United come from behind to beat Arsenal 3-2. It was a bizarre opening goal for Arsenal, with De Gea down injured by his own player when Smith Rowe fired in. The Norweigan later caught Fred to give away a penalty, which Ronaldo emphatically put away to earn the three points.

Cristiano Ronaldo reached a historic goalscoring milestone as his two goals helped Manchester United come from behind to beat Arsenal.

The Gunners took the lead in bizarre circumstances when Emile Smith-Rowe put the ball in the net while United goalkeeper David de Gea was down injured after his own team-mate Fred had stood on his foot at a corner.

Referee Martin Atkinson initially blew his whistle to stop the game but after a VAR check, the goal was allowed to stand. But Fred atoned for his role in the Arsenal goal when he jinked into the box and squared for Bruno Fernandes to score the equalizer for United just before half-time.

Ronaldo breaks record: It was United who struck next when Marcus Rashford’s cut-back was turned in by Cristiano Ronaldo to make it 2-1 with his 800th career goal.

Their lead lasted just a few minutes, however, with Martin Ødegaard soon equalizing at the other end from Gabriel Martinelli’s cross. But Ødegaard then went from hero to zero for Arsenal when he clumsily brought down Fred in the box and after a minor delay, United were awarded a penalty.

Ronaldo stepped up and blasted down the middle to make it 801 career goals, and 3-2. United move up to 7th in the table, while Arsenal remain 5th.
