In Wednesday’s 4-1 victory, the Belgian playmaker scored twice and gave up one assist. After the victory, City had two games remaining and trailed league leaders Arsenal by just two points. After the game, Pep Guardiola’s team celebrated lavishly.

But during his post-game interviews, De Bruyne acknowledged that “most of the team was gone” by the time he returned to the locker room. The 31-year-old Belgian made light of the fact that his media duties prevented him from attending the celebration. Kevin said, ‘To be fair, by doing about 15 interviews when I got back to the dressing room, most of the team was gone.’

Kevin de Bruyne’s words

After the game, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland were both spotted celebrating the win in the home team’s locker room. Kevin de Bruyne also spoke about the chance to play against a good team like Arsenal. He also spoke about how he relished the opportunity to play in the tactical role, which saw him make runs in behind against Arsenal.

Kevin said, ‘I think we’ve been playing well for months, winning most of the games. There is more space in behind with Arsenal as they go to man to man. That meant there was more opportunities for me to run into the space and get the ball. I think we created enough chances.’

Manchester City’s season

The Cityzens are on course to win the treble this season and will be gunning to go all out for all the trophies. In the FA Cup, they are in the finals and will face Manchester United. In the UEFA Champions League, the trophy that they are desperately eyeing, they will be battling against Real Madrid in the semi-finals and will be looking to dump the holders out of the competition.

They are in second place on 73 points and are just 2 points shy of Arsenal in first place. Also, City have 2 games in hand and if they win both, then they will be 4 points ahead of the Gunners. Safe to say, this could be a historical season for them.
