Newcastle United COMPETE Man United to sign Ten Hag approved TARGET Axel Disasi

Newcastle United are in contact with Erik Ten Hag-approved Manchester United target Axel Disasi. They will soon contact Monaco regarding the transfer.

Man United Transfer: Manchester United have been keen on bringing in AS Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi. After they missed on their top target Kim Min-Jae to Bayern Munich, they have diverted their focus to Disasi. However, it won’t be easy for them to acquire the defender. Disasi who has been a key player for Monaco last season, has also attracted interest from Newcastle United. The player wants a move to the Premier League prior to the upcoming season. Hence, he could choose to join either of the teams.

Manchester United have qualified for the upcoming season’s Champions League following their 3rd place finish in the Premier League last season. They also ended their 6-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup last season. Hence, they will be extremely determined to win more trophies in the upcoming season. On the other hand, Newcastle United also sealed their place in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years following a 4th place finish. Hence, both teams are determined to bolster their team before the season starts.

Both centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have been linked with a move away from Man United. They have fallen down the pecking order as coach Erik Ten Hag prefers the duo Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez when they are fit. However, if they make progress in other competitions, then Man United will have a tight schedule combined with the Premier League. Hence, they will need someone solid and they targeted Kim Min-Jae for that job. However, they lost that transfer race to Bayern Munich.

Following that, they have diverted their focus to Axel Disasi. Reportedly, Erik Ten Hag has been given a £120 million budget plus whatever he gets from selling players to bring in their target. They have already spent £50 million plus £5 million in add-ons to bring Mason Mount from Chelsea. Following David De Gea’s exit, they are also determined to bring in Andre Onana who could cost about £51 million which is Internazionale’s asking price. Hence, they could be on the backfoot here, especially because Monaco are set to ask for around £43 million for Disasi.

On the other hand, Newcastle United have a solid centre-back duo in Fabian Schar and Sven Botman. The duo helped Newcastle acquire the joint-best defensive record last season in the Premier League. Yet, similar to Ten Hag, coach Eddie Howe admires the Monaco defender. They will also have a tight schedule in the later part of the season if they manage to progress in other competitions. Hence, they had actually targeted Goncalo Inacio from Sporting who is also a Man United target.

However, they now seem to be focusing on Desasi. Newcastle have recently acquired Sandro Tonali from AC Milan on a £60 million transfer fee. Hence, it will be interesting to see if either of the Premier League clubs will be able to match Monaco’s asking price. Man United have been in talks with the player for quite some time, but have not approached Monaco. Similarly, Newcastle have talked to Disasi. However, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, they are set to contact Monaco soon. Neither club has submitted any bid yet.
