Atalanta reject Manchester United’s player plus cash offer for Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United have offered a player plus cash deal for Rasmus Hojlund. Atalanta rejected the deal as they will only agree on a full cash offer.

Man United Transfer: Manchester United offered a player plus cash deal to to Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund. As per reports, the offer has been rejected and Atalanta will only entertain a cash-only offer. Man United have a limited budget and they’ve already brought in Mason Mount on a £55 million deal. Additionally, along with Hojlund, they are also pursuing Andre Onana from Internazionale. Inter are unwilling to budge from their asking price as well. Hence, it could turn into a complicated situation for the Red Devils.

Manchester United are in search of a striker and their first priority target is Rasmus Hojlund. Atalanta are asking for a whopping fee of £85.5 million for the player. Man United, who will be unable to pay that amount, offered them a player plus cash deal which was promptly rejected by the Italian side. They want Man United to pay full cash for Hojlund. However, that might turn out to be impossible for the Red Devils who have a limited budget of around £100 million.

The budget can only increase from the sales they make during this transfer window. They have made a list of players to put on the market. The list includes names like Scott McTominay, Donny Van De Beek, Anthony Elanga, Dean Henderson, and Fred. However, Atalanta did not show interest in any players offered up by Man United. Hence, the Red Devils will have to sell a few players as soon as possible. Fulham have shown interest in Fred and that deal could come through.

However, as of now, they have already spent over half of their budget to bring Mason Mount. However, that is not their sole problem as their first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea has left the club after 12 years. Along with Hojlund, Man United are currently pursuing Andre Onana as De Gea’s replacement. Onana could cost them around over £50 million as Inter are not ready to settle for less than this. Additionally, none of the clubs want to yield as one doesn’t want to see the other club get more money from the transfers.

Man United are closer to seal the deal for Onana than Hojlund. Coach Erik Ten Hag also wants to bring in the player before they travel to the United States for their pre-season tour. As things stand, the Red Devils have offered a £45 million deal for Onana. They could come to an agreement on a compromised fee between their offered price and Inter’s asking price. However, even that will see them lose a big chunk of their budget. Hence, they could be forced to move on from Hojlund.

They have a few other targets for the forward position. One of them is the talented youngster Randal Kolo Muani from Frankfurt, so the Red Devils could divert their focus to him. As per reports, Hojlund personally wants a move to Manchester United. However, with PSG and Bayern Munich also interested in the player, his wish might not come true. Both the clubs have the budget to pay Atalanta enough to bring in Hojlund. Hence, Man United seem to be on the backfoot here.
