Man City Financial Fairplay: Manchester City FFP Breaches – After finding themselves in hot water for breaking Financial Fairplay Rules (FFP), problems seem to have escalated even more for Manchester City. According to the report by The Sun, one club chief said “If these charges are proven there must be proper punishment – and the only fitting one is for them to be relegated. We’re talking about a decade of alleged abuses and want the Premier League to do the right thing.”

How many violations have Manchester City broken

City has been accused of breaking more than 100 violations between 2009 to 2018. The current Premier League champions during that time won England’s premier division in 2012, 2014, and 2018. The alleged charges are so serious, that points deduction cannot be ruled out if they are found guilty of breaching the rules.

Premier League had also released a statement on City breaking the FFP in which it said, “The Premier League released a statement that the breaches have been noted and further details would be released at a later point in time. A wide number of penalties can be potentially incurred on the team including Points DEDUCTION and Transfer BANS.

“In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred a number of alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules by Manchester City Football Club (Club) to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4,”.

Manchester City responded to the claims by stating that, “Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with. The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position”.
