Earlier the match ended in a draw but City graduated to the semifinals with a 1-0 aggregate win. Man City will now take on Real Madrid in 1st Leg of Semifinals on 27th April.

MAN CITY Atletico Tunnel Fight – What Exactly happened?

  • According to the reports in UK Media, after the ill-tempered match as players were going inside the tunnel – host’s Sime Vrsaljko tried to start a fight.
  • The footage shows he tried to to spit on Man City’s Kyle Walker before cops stepped in.
  • The defender had to be held back by Atletico staff as he tried to fight members of the City squad.
  • Further, Vrsaljko provoked City team members by Goalkeeping Gloves at a City staff member.
  • The Atletico right-back completely lost his cool.
  • He was seen gesturing aggressively and appearing to spit when he reached the top of the stairs.
  • Shocking footage then shows police charging in to break up the row before the players headed into their dressing rooms.

The Croatian was also the villain at the Etihad along with Stefan Savic – with the pair both trying to wind up Jack Grealish by pulling at his hair.

Savic pulled the same trick on Grealish towards the end of the second leg and the pair also clashed in the tunnel.

Manchester City produced a disciplined performance to secure a fractious 0-0 draw at Atletico Madrid.

Tensions boiled over in the closing stages and Atletico defender Felipe was sent off after receiving a second yellow card before the teams played out 12 minutes of added time.

Scuffles broke out among the players following Felipe’s dismissal for kicking out at Phil Foden and continued after the final whistle as the teams went down the tunnel.

“When Atletico play the way City played today, we are very criticised. Let’s see what people say today,” captain Koke told Movistar Plus.

“I’m proud of my teammates for the effort they have made, nothing to blame the team for. We’ve had our chances, we haven’t taken advantage of them and congratulations to the rival, but Atleti deserved more.”

The City players acknowledged they had not been at their most fluent.

“It wasn’t our best game, that’s for sure,” Rodri told reporters.

“We were tired in the second half because of the calendar, we had a very intense match on the weekend with Liverpool and we were out of legs in the end.”

City, bidding to win European club football’s most prestigious trophy for the first time, will play the record 13-times champion Real Madrid in the semifinals.
