Malaysia Masters Badminton LIVE:  PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy booked their spots in the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open Masters on Thursday. Both Sindhu and Prannoy won their second round contests in straight sets and are now the only remaining Indian players in the singles in the tournament. Parupalli Kashyap bowed out from the Malaysia Masters after losing in straight game against Anthony Ginting in R16 in the Men’s singles. HS Prannoy vs Tzu Wei Wang 

Prannoy started off the proceedings slowly as Tzu Wei Wang ran away with an early lead of 7-2. The Indian slowly got into the groove as he began playing good shots and tried began reducing the gap between the two players. He managed to level the score 9-9 but Wang entered the break with a narrow two-point lead with the score at 11-9. From then on both the players fought tooth and nail and Prannoy took the lead for the first time when the scores were 17-16. However, Wang levelled it 19-all. Prannoy finally managed to clinch the thriller 21-19.

The second set too was a fiercely contested one. Both the players challenged each other and were going neck-to-neck with the score at 10-10. Prannoy then produced a clean smash to take 12-11 lead. From then on he started putting pressure on his opponent to which Wang crumbled as he committed way too many unforced errors that helped Prannoy win the second game and enter quarterfinals.

PV Sindhu vs Zhang Yi Man 

Indian badminton ace PV Sindhu cruised to the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Masters with a facile straight-game win over China’s Zhang Yi Man on Thursday. The two-time Olympic medallist, who is seeded seventh, made short work of the world number 32, Yi Man 21-12 21-10 in just 28 minutes in the women’s singles second round clash.

However, a tough contest awaits the former World Champion, currently ranked seventh in the world, as she will cross swords with her nemesis Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the last eight.

Sindhu has a dismal 5-16 head-to-head record against the world No. 2, who had also beaten the Indian in the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open last week.

Parupalli Kashyap vs Anthony Ginting .

Parupalli Kashyap lost to Indonesia’s Anthony Sinisuka Ginting 21-10, 21-15 in a match that lasted only for 34 minutes.

Ginting dominated the match right from the start and didn’t allow Kashyap to settle as he took the first set 21-10. However in the second set Kashyap fought well at the start and took an early 7-6 lead. However, Ginting came back and took control of the game. He went on to win the set 21-15 to qualify for the quarterfinal.

Malaysia Masters will be live-streamed in India by Voot Select. However, the streaming platform will broadcast matches only from the quarterfinals. The first two-round matches can be watched LIVE on BWF’s official Youtube  Channel BWF TV.

The matches are scheduled to begin at 7.30 AM.
