South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the IND vs SA T20Is with a left ankle sprain, the Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Friday.
Ngidi was scheduled to play in the first two T20Is, starting on December 10 but he will now be assessed by CSA’s medical team. The pacer is also doubtful for the 2-match Test series, starting on December 26.
“The 27 year old has been released from the squad and will return to his provincial team where he will undergo his rehabiliation with the Momentum Multiply Titans under the supervision of the Proteas medical team“, CSA said in a press release.
Seamer Beuran Hendricks has been named as Ngidi’s replacement. The seamer made his last appearance in the T20I format against Ireland in July 2021.
