Having suffered an early setback, RCB would have preferred their veteran batter to play a composed knock and guide the team to a big total, but that was not to be as Chameera dismissed him for a golden duck.
The delivery was certainly not threatening as Chameera banged in the ball short and away from Kohli. Instead of taking his time at the crease, Kohli went for a shot in his very first ball but it turned out to be a fatal misjudgement. The ball caught a big edge of Kohli’s bat and gave a simple catch to Deepak Hooda at backward point.

Kohli also made quite a few unwanted records with this dismissal. It was his 100th innings across all formats without a century, while the wicket also was Kohli fourth golden duck in IPL, and his first in as many as five years since Nathan Coulter-Nile got his for a golden duck back in IPL 2017. The 33-year-old’s form is also a major cause of concern for RCB as Kohli has 25 runs in powerplay overs in IPL 2022, and has been dismissed three times.
