LSG vs CSK, IPL 2023: After 2 back-to-back defeats, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could make some changes in the playing 11 for the Lucknow Super Giants clash in Indian Premier League 2023 on Wednesday. The Men in Yellow have been unchanged for the past couple of games, but this could change on their visit to Uttar Pradesh city. The bowlers who have been Achilles heel for 4-time champs came under radar again after defeat vs Punjab Kings on Sunday. The loss vs PBKS will surely prompt CSK team management to ponder different options in the squad as they will be hopeful of the return of certain Ben Stokes in the playing XI.

The Shikhar Dhawan-led team scored the winning runs off the final ball to defeat the yellow brigade on Sunday. CSK had a decent chance to win after posting 200 for four at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, largely because to another outstanding 92 from Devon Conway.

“We lost it in a couple of overs in the middle. You need to be aware of what you need to bowl and be clear because the batters will be going for it (big hits). (Matheesha) Pathirana bowled well but other than that, we need to see if the plans were wrong or the execution was bad,” Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.

Except for the starting pair of Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad (37), no other hitters were able to have an effect, and Dhoni believed his team could have added another 10 runs.

“We should be doing better with the bat. The pitch had turn, there was some turn when it hit the seam. The slower balls gripped. I think 200 (runs) was par. Also towards the end of our innings, could we have got 10 more?” MSD questioned.

LSG vs CSK: Ben Stokes and Deepak Chahar to return?

Both Matheesha Pathirana and Akash Singh have bowled decently in the powerplay and throughout the death overs, but if Ben Stokes and Deepak Chahar become available for the game vs LSG, they will likely be benched.

Due to injury-related concerns, Stokes and Chahar have been sidelined for seven matches at this point. The team has provided no official update regarding their availability for the forthcoming games.

Probable Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI): Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni(w/c), Deepak Chahar, Ben Stokes, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana
