Legends League Cricket 2022: Kevin O’Brien hits 56-ball 100 to power Gujarat Giants to 3-wicket win vs India Capitals

Chasing 180 to win, Gujarat Titans were handed a quick start with some extras. While Sehwag struggled, Kevin O’Brien looked in good touch as they raced to 40 within four overs. Sehwag perished but Parthiv Patel and O’Brien continued the onslaught on the bowlers. The left-right stand put on a 70-run partnership.

O’Brien went past his fifty and then stitched another 59-run partnership with Yashpal Sharma to get close to the target. The Ireland star reached his century in style, hitting a gigantic six. There was some harakiri at the end as Gujarat lost four wickets for just four runs before Tambe bowled a wide to McClenaghan to seal the game.

Earlier in the day, India Capitals were rocked early in Gautam Gambhir’s absence slipping to 33/4. Denesh Ramdin played a counter-attacking knock of 31 but the Capitals were in a spot of bother at 73/6. Ashley Nurse then played a blinder stitching a valuable partnership with Liam Plunkett to get the side past 150.

After surviving a drop chance, Nurse changed gears and took the Giants bowlers to the cleaners, scoring a scintillating hundred in just 41 delivers. Nurse eventually managed 103 as India Capitals put on a fighting 179/7 in their 20 overs. The total however was not enough as Kevin O’Brien foiled Kallis and Co’s plans.
