Liverpool vs Aston Villa: Aston Villa are travelling to Anfield on a high from their latest win against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday. This brought their winning streak at home to 6 matches. Aston Villa midfield duo Jacob Ramsey and Douglas Luiz scored a goal each which put them in the front against Spurs last weekend. A controversial penalty scored by Harry Kane in the 90th minute could not bring Spurs back to life. This brought Luiz and Ramsey’s goal tally to respectively 6 and 5. Both midfielders have been quite effective for the team this season. However, they will be looking for the forward Ollie Watkins, their top goalscorer to show his magic against Liverpool.

After the brilliant win against Spurs, Aston Villa are sitting in the 8th position in the league, one position behind 7th-placed Tottenham Hotspur. However, the only thing keeping Aston Villa one place behind Spurs is the goal difference. Coach Emery has built an incredible record at home with a 6-match winning streak. However, their form on the road has been disappointing. Recently, they have lost two matches against Manchester United and Wolves on the road.

Philippe Coutinho has picked up an unspecified injury which will definitely keep him out of the squad. Even if he was fit, he would probably have made the bench anyway. Hence, he would miss the chance of a reunion with his national team teammate Firmino for one last time. Other than Coutinho, only their second-choice goalkeeper Jed Steer will be missing the match. He has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a calf injury.

Matty Cash recovered from a calf issue of his own in their last match against Spurs. Coming back from the injury, he did not start the match, but coach Emery gave him a few minutes of playing time. Cash came in for Watkins who was taken off at 90+1st minute. Coach Emery could bench Leon Bailey and bring in Boubacar Kamara. Whereas, their John McGinn in the midfield could be taking up a much wider role.

Coach Emery will probably line up the same starting XI with only one change including Kamara instead of Bailey. Their first-choice goalkeeper Martinez will be taking up his role in front of the net. While Young, Konsa, Mings, and Moreno could make up the back four line to help Martinez. The attack line will probably comprise of Buendia and Watkins whereas, Ramsey, Kamara, Luiz, and McGinn help the duo from the midfield.

Aston Villa Predicted XI: Martinez; Young, Konsa, Mings, Moreno; Ramsey, Kamara, Luiz, McGinn; Buendia, Watkins
