Liverpool vs Bayern Munich Live: Club Friendlies LIVE – LIV vs BAY LIVE – Liverpool face Bayern Munich in a blockbuster pre-season friendly in their Asia tour. Both Jurgen Klopp’s side and Thomas Tuchel’s side have already played three pre-season friendly matches. Both teams have won two matches each, while Liverpool drew one and Bayern lost one match each. The Reds registered 4 goals in each of their pre-season matches. Whereas, the Bavarians started their campaign with a massive 27-0 win, but they have failed to follow through thereafter.

Liverpool possibly had their worst season under coach Jurgen Klopp last time around. At one time during the season, there was doubt whether they would even qualify for any European competitions for this season. However, near the end of the season, they picked their pace and ended the season in 5th place in the Premier League. For the first time in Jurgen Klopp’s era in Liverpool, there will be no Champions League evenings at Anfield. The coach is still rebuilding the team to give a tough competition this upcoming season.

Their preparations are going well so far as new players have settled down pretty well from the get-go. So far, they have played 3 pre-season matches and won two of them while drawing one. Remarkably, they scored 4 times in each of their games. In their first match, they won 4-2 against Karsruher. They drew 4-4 against Greuther Furth in their second match and then won 4-0 against Premier League rivals, recently relegated, Leicester City. Following their friendly against Bayern, they have another friendly against Darmstadt before their Premier League campaign starts.

Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga for the 11th straight time last season. They faced some difficulties in the domestic league and winning the title came down to the last matchday. They also managed to win the DFL Supercup. However, the Bavarians were knocked out of both Champions League and DFB-Pokal from the quarter-finals round. Hence, they will be looking to improve their performance this term and they have started preparations for that. So far, they have played 3 pre-season friendlies and won 2 of them.

Their first friendly was against the ninth-tier side FC Rottach-Egern which they won by a massive 27-0 margin. However, they lost their next friendly by a 2-1 margin against Manchester City. Their recent 1-0 win came with quite a difficulty against J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale. It was a single goal in the second half by Josip Stanisic that saved the Bavarians from defeat. Following their match against the Reds, they have one more friendly against Monaco before they face RB Leipzig in the DFB Supercup final.

Liverpool Team News

  • Liverpool’s squad has changed massively from last season’s. Several key players including captain Jordan Henderson have left the club this transfer window. The Reds announced Virgil Van Dijk as their new captain and he will be leading the team on Wednesday. They have also brought on two extremely talented players Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
  • Both players have settled in perfectly at the club. However, Szoboszlai was sidelined for a very brief spell with an ankle issue. However, he made his return in their last friendly against Leicester City. Even though they have no fresh injuries before the blockbuster friendly, the Reds will be without Conor Bradley, Stefan Bajcetic, and former Bayern key player Thiago Alcantara.
  • Coach Klopp will have most of the squad at his disposal. Considering the opponent’s calibre, the coach will surely start his strongest XI. Hence, Bobby Clark who scored in their last match will be benched along with Caoimhin Kelleher. Alisson Becker will take his place under the goalposts instead of Kelleher. Whereas, Luis Diaz could return to join Nunez and Mohamed Salah in the final third.

Bayern Munich Team News

  • Similar to the Reds, the Bavarians have also seen significant changes happen to the squad in this transfer window. Former Liverpool man Sadio Mane will be missing the reunion with his former employers as he is heavily linked with a move away to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. Meanwhile, their only major inclusion to the team has been Kim Min-Jae.
  • Other than the players who have left the club this summer, the Bavarians also have a number of injury concerns. Mane’s exclusion from the team is an addition to already depleted final-third players as Thomas Muller is out with a hip injury while Eric Maxim Choup-Moting is sidelined with a knee issue. Manuel Neuer and new signing Raphael Guerreiro are out with leg problems as well.
  • Yann Sommer who has been heavily linked with a move away to Inter Milan is named in the squad. As of now, he remains to be on duty under the goalposts for the Bavarians and will keep his post against the Reds as well. New signing Kim Min-Jae who made his debut in their last match against Kawasaki should keep his place against the Reds.
