Rashid Khan dismissed Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur in the first three balls of the 17th over to become the first Gujarat Titans bowler to complete a hat trick in the Indian Premier League. Unfortunately, Rashid Khan’s efforts weren’t good enough to secure a win for the Gujarat Titans. Since the inception of the IPL in 2008, a total of 17 bowlers have bagged 22 hat tricks in the cash-rich league. Rashid Khan’s hat trick on Sunday was the 22nd time a bowler has picked up a hat trick in the IPL. He is also the first bowler to take a hat trick in the IPL 2023. The first hat trick in the IPL came way back in the opening season, when Chennai Super Kings’ bowler Lakshmipathy Balaji bagged a hat trick against Kings XI Punjab. Since then, both spinners and pacers have been on the list of bowlers to have taken three wickets in as many balls.
