Subair Vazhakkad is a farmer and an Argentina fan who lives in Vazhakkad village located in Kerala’s Malappuram district. He received an Argentina football house from a UAE-based businessman Afi Ahmed as a gift. It is a one-story football-themed house in Argentina’s colors – sky blue and white. The top of the house is adorned by a huge football and a large jersey of Lionel Messi.
Upon receiving such a house as a gift, Vazhakkad said, “It is my dream home. I don’t have words to thank him.” As Ahmed presented the gift to Vazhakkad, he said he felt like it was the “most apt gift to a hardcore Argentina fan”.

A few of the places in India that continue to show their love for football are Kerala, West Bengal, Goa, and Northeast India. During the 2022 Qatar World Cup, fans of Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Cristiano Ronaldo put out 30-50 ft. cutouts of the players in the middle of the Pullavoor river in Kozhikode. This is just one example of the fanaticism of football fans in the country.
The farmer, Subair Vazhakkad gained fame on social media as his unique commentary went viral during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Subair Vazhakkad does not have the required professional qualifications for a commentator, but his detailed and unique commentary in the Malayalam language and dialect went viral.

This video was also noticed by the UAE-based businessman Afi Ahmed. Afi Ahmed is the managing director of the travel company, ‘Smart Travels’. There was another video that went viral during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It was of a young boy who was crying as Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia in their very first group match.
Afi Ahmed invited both the young Argentina fan and Subair Vazhakkad to Qatar to watch Argentina’s match from the stadium. However, Subair Vazhakkad could not attend as he couldn’t leave his ailing family to leave for Qatar. After Argentina’s World Cup trophy win, Ahmed started to reconstruct Vazhakkad’s old broken-down house to build the Argentina-themed football house for the devoted fan.
