Lionel Messi is not only respected as a player but also as a person throughout the world. Lionel Messi has an impeccable reputation for following rules and not creating trouble with the club. Hence, it was a shock to the world when Lionel Messi was suspended by PSG. He was suspended as he went on a 2-day trip to Saudi Arabia with his family without getting any permission from the club.

However, as per reports from the renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lionel Messi’s side also has a version of the story to tell. Lionel Messi has been a brand ambassador for Saudi Arabia tourism for the longest time. He also had plans to visit Saudi owing to that reason for a long time. However, PSG’s schedules collided with his plans a few times which he respected. Hence, he cancelled twice in the last few months.

As per close sources to Lionel Messi, after PSG’s last match against Lorient, the Argentine came to know that they would get to have 2 free days. Hence, he planned the trip to leave on Monday morning. Then, he let the concerned authorities at the club know about his plans and left. However, when he was already in the air with his family on Monday morning, on his way to Saudi Arabia, PSG’s plans were changed.

PSG changed their schedule and decided to hold a training session on that day. However, at that time when the club let him know about the changed schedule, it had already become impossible for Lionel Messi to join his teammates for that day’s training. Messi was included in the starting line-up for PSG’s defeat against Lorient. They are now only 5 points ahead of the second-placed Marseille in the Ligue 1 table.

As per reports, Messi was ready to activate his contract’s one-year extension with PSG during the World Cup in December. However, as Leo Messi started to understand PSG’s future plans and projects, he did not like them. Apparently, a month ago, his father and agent, Jorge Messi told the club that Messi wants to leave at the end of the season. Since then, the relationship between the club and the player has gone sour. This suspension is also bad for Messi’s reputation. Hence, it could have been the last nail in the coffin of PSG and Messi’s partnership.
