After leaving PSG this summer, Lionel Messi had the chance to rejoin Barcelona. However, there were too many complications that could have seen Messi not getting registered with Barca at the end of the day. That’s why Messi decided against moving back to his old club and chose to move to Inter Miami in the United States. Recently, Barcelona’s top goalscorer Marc Andre Ter Stegen revealed that Barcelona is his home and he might come back there in the future in some other role.
Even though Lionel Messi decided against joining Barcelona, it seems that his former teammates are still holding out hopes. Recently talking to SPOX and GOAL, Ter Stegen said, “He would certainly have been an asset for us. Maybe he’ll return in another role at some point. Barcelona is his club and will always be a big part of his life. Many people here are still in contact with him. A few players he was very close with are now in Miami with him.”
Lionel Messi is enjoying his life in the United States at Inter Miami. He was announced as their captain from the beginning. Since he joined in July end, he led Miami to win the first-ever trophy in the club’s history. He scored 11 goals in the 11 matches he played for them as well. It seems he even helped the previous Miami players improve their performance to a visible extent. However, it wasn’t just Messi, but his former Barcelona teammates, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets joined him.
Both Alba and Busquets are also thriving with Messi at the club. Before he joined Inter Miami, during an interview, Messi said how much he wanted to come back to Barcelona. However, the way he left the La Liga club was uncertain. He had to join PSG with no plans and his family had to struggle with him. As a way to avoid that, Messi joined Inter Miami. However, he did not rule out the possibility of returning to Barca and Ter Stegen is certainly hoping for that. Messi and Ter Stegen spent 7 seasons together at Barcelona and shared a close bond.
