Argentina Mexico LIVE Streaming: After suffering a shocking defeat at the hands of Saudi Arabia in their tournament opener, Argentina cannot afford another slip-up. The two-time world champions have to beat Mexico on Saturday to stay alive in the competition. For that to happen, the La Albiceleste will require Messi’s services preferably from the start till the very end.

Messi, despite nursing an ankle injury, is expected to be part of the starting XI against Mexico. Manager Lionel Scaloni says that Leo is doing perfectly fine and is looking forward to the all-important clash against Mexico.

“Leo is doing well, as our his other teammates. We know tomorrow we have an important match and most young players know that everything will be left on the pitch. Everything depends on us – that’s why we need to give everything on the pitch,” Scaloni said during the mandatory press conference.

The 35-year-old forward was the lone goal scorer for Argentina against Saudi Arabia. He scored from the penalty spot in the first half. He is expected to partner Angel Di Maria and Lautaro Martinez and form an attack to dismantle Mexico’s defense line.

He likes playing against Mexico. Lionel Messi has faced Mexico five times, resulting in four wins and one draw for Argentina. He also has three goals and two assists to his name against the Mexicans.

Messi replicates Maradona magic

When in trouble, Argentina football fans recall LATE legend Diego Maradona. With Argentina on the brink of elimination from the FIFA World Cup, the national team fans crowded the narrow alleys of Doha main market. Fans waved Maradona flags, chanted his name along with Messi. Police had to barricade the entrance to Souq Waqif, because of the crowd.

Some fans chanted ‘Viva Diego’ and also unfurl flags in the honour of Maradona. Some of them expected Maradona, to pass his magic to Messi for the must-win group game against Mexico.

“Diego is a god and you have to ask the gods for things and you have to thank them,” said a young Argentina fan.

“So I hope he gives us a little help now with the match against Mexico.”

Maradona passed away at the age of 60 on November 25, 2020. He played in four World Cups, and lifted the trophy in 1986.

Can Messi inspire a turnaround for Argentina just like Maradona did close to four decades back? Should Argentina lose to Mexico for the first time in 18 years, they’ll be staring down the barrel of FIFA World Cup elimination. Both Messi and Argentina fans would not want that to happen, to arguably their greatest footballer alongside legendary Diego Maradona.
