Lionel Messi Effect: Major League Soccer (MLS) has seen the growing popularity of Lionel Messi. Following news that football great Lionel Mess will go from Paris Saint-Germain to Major League Soccer, ticket costs for Inter Miami games soared in a matter of hours on Wednesday.

No HOMECOMING for Lionel Messi, Barcelona legend confirms SIGNING for Inter Miami

The cost of a ticket for the Los Angeles FC vs. Inter Miami match scheduled for September 9 has reportedly increased from $81 to $442, according to TickPick. This sum is more than five times what the fans previously paid. Lionel Messi’s move to the MLS will probably bring in a lot of money, particularly for Inter Miami.

According to TickPick, tickets for Inter Miami against Mexico City’s Cruz Azul on July 21 were selling for $29 before the news. The cheapest tickets after news of the move broke were $329. A match against the New York Red Bulls went from $30 to $401, and a match against LAFC spiked from $81 to $422.

The higher authorities are also making the most of the circumstance by raising the cost of their tickets. There is a risk that once Lionel Messi begins to play frequently, ticket costs might increase significantly.

In the Eastern Conference, Inter Miami is suffering at the bottom of the standings. A player like Lionel Messi joining their squad would be much appreciated by their supporters. This will immediately increase the supporters’ and the team’s confidence. Inter Miami has a potential to turn a profit and can anticipate sold-out crowds at every game.

Rumour has it that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will make his Inter Miami debut on July 21 against Cruz Azul of Mexico in a Leagues Cup encounter. Tata Martino, a former Messi manager with Barcelona and Argentina, is currently the front-runner to replace Phil Neville, who was ousted as head coach earlier this month. On an interim basis, Javier Morales is in control of the team.
