Like Father, Like Son, WATCH Lasith Malinga preparing son for Mumbai Indians

MI New York bowling coach Lasith Malinga is preparing his son, Duvin, for the Mumbai Indians as the Little Malinga knocked the middle stump back, showing glipses of his father's bowling.

With MI New York (MINY) struggling in Major League Cricket 2023 (MLC 2023), former Mumbai Indians star and their bowling coach Lasith Malinga was seen giving bowling tips to his son, Duvin Malinga. Lasith, who was the Mumbai Indians spearhead for over a decade and took 170 wickets for the side, the sixth highest in tournament history, may be looking to give the MI franchise another premier fast bowler.

In a video uploaded by MI New York on their social media accounts, the former Sri Lankan pacer was seen observing his son’s bowling. Little Malinga has taken after his father and can be seen bowling with a similar side-on action. After his son bowled the first ball, Lasith opined that Duvin has a ‘natural action’, but he needs to bowl straight and fast.

Lasith Malinga further said that if he can bowl straight and fast, he can learn the other skills. As Lasith was saying that, Duvin knocked the middle stump back, which left Lasith and his son ecstatic.

Despite having several T20 stars in Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult, Rashid Khan, and Nicholas Pooran, and former IPL giant Lasith Malinga as head coach, MI New York have lost two of their three matches. However, MINY still has two matches left to redeem themselves and find a place in the playoffs.

MINY will now face the Washington Freedom (WAF) on July 23 and the Seattle Orcas (SOR) on July 25 with the hope of qualifying for the final 4 and having a chance to win the inaugural season of Major League Cricket.
