Leo Messi PSG: Paris Saint Germain vs Reims HIGHLIGHTS: Ligue 1: After holding Paris Saint-Germain to a 1-1 tie, Reims captain Yunis Abdelhamid poked fun at the triumvirate of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe. Yunis Abdelhamid, a centre-back for Stade de Reims, claimed that against Paris-Saint-Germain, the club found it simple to work the ball out from the back since the front three of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar Jr “don’t defend.” Follow All Ligue 1 LIVE and Scores on InsideSport.IN.

Speaking to reporters Abdelhamid said, “It was easy to work the ball out of the defence because the front three [Messi, Mbappé, Neymar] don’t defend. We knew on our side that if we passed this first line, they no longer participate in the collective defensive effort. We worked on that. We wanted to exploit it and that’s what we managed to do. That’s why we created so many chances.”

After a poor first half in which Reims dominated, Neymar gave the home team PSG the lead a few minutes after the interval when a deflected Lionel Messi shot dropped to him in the penalty area. Neymar made the Reims goalie have a choice before placing the ball softly into the net.
Marco Verratti, who was returning from injury after missing four straight games, was sent off for a studs-up tackle into the ankle of a Reims player, which made matters worse for PSG. Prior to the referee noticing the monitor, a yellow card rather than a red one was issued for the action.
Reims was unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage, and PSG appeared to be winning until a giveaway allowed Balogun to brilliantly finish around the goaltender and score his 11th goal of the Ligue 1 season.

Reims looked dangerous throughout, especially during transitions, but PSG, who haven’t been in full flow since the return of domestic play, failed to create high-quality chances. Abdelhamid attributed his team’s offensive performance to PSG’s front line’s lack of defensive contribution.
However, a superb Reims team gained the draw it richly deserved when Balogun made a breakaway goal with seconds remaining in the game. With the win, the side coached by Belgian-born 30-year-old Englishman Will Still has now gone 14 games in both league and cup competition without suffering a loss.
PSG now only leads Lens by three points with 20 games played and another round of midweek games on the horizon. The Parisians will visit Montpellier on February 1 to compete against the hosts. Under Will Still’s coaching, Reims has gone 12 games without a loss in the league and 14 games overall. With the draw, they climb to position 11, 11 points above the relegation zone.
