With the win, Lens has closed the gap on PSG to four points and re-ignited the title battle. The outcome will cause concern for PSG, which is edging closer to a Champions League matchup with Bayern Munich in early February. Follow All Ligue 1 LIVE Updates and Scores on InsideSport.IN.

Hugo Ekitike and Carlos Soler are leading the charge against Neymar and Lionel Messi, who are absent due to rest . Danilo and Fabian, two favourite midfielders, start in Vitinha’s place. There are a few small adjustments for Lens. Massadio Haidara, a former Newcastle fullback, replaces Deiver Machado as the starting left wing-back. Playmaker Florian Sotoca replaces Wesley Said on the right wing for his first appearance since before the World Cup break.

In a crucial time, Przemyslaw Frankowski scored his first goal of the year, and PSG are down early! The play starts in the middle of the field as Florian Sotoca advances the ball and floats it to an unmarked Massiado Haidara at the far post. While Donnarumma managed to get a touch on Haidara’s volleyed return to the centre, he could only tap the ball to Frankowski, who slammed it home from close range. The visitors have struck right back in three minutes. Hugo Ekitike slashed right through, knocked the ball away from Lens goalkeeper Brice Samba, and pushed it into the back of the net.

After a PSG opportunity fails, Lois Openda escapes and sprints down the opposite end. Marquinhos attempted a last-ditch 1v1 tackle, but the player slid by. Then, Openda defeats Donnarumma with a cool, collected conclusion to retake the lead. With the breakaway, the finish, and the skill to get Marquinhos to sail by, it’s a beautiful goal.

The Ligue 1 leaders struggled throughout the first half, and Lens was in the lead for a justifiable reason. The hosts controlled the midfield, which left Kyilan Mbappe and Marco Verratti without touches. Verratti averages 102 touches a game in Ligue 1 this year, but he only got 44 in the first half. Even less service was given to Mbappe, who only received 25 touches and six lost possessions. Meanwhile, the Lens midfield of Salis Abdul Samed, Seko Fofana, and Lois Openda controlled play in the middle while Lois Openda was superb for Lens running the counter-attack.

For RC Lens, Alexis Claude-Maurice scores the third goal. While PSG players yell for a foul, it is not called after a turnover by Fabian Ruiz at the top of the penalty area, dispossessed by Haidara. When Openda receives the ball with his back to the goal and executes a beautiful backheel, Claude-Maurice completes the move. More errors by PSG cost them chances to score, but Lens forced those errors with outstanding play at crucial times.

Three well-earned points for the hosts, who thoroughly dominate their top-ranked rivals at home. The game’s star was Lois Openda, who frequently ran a great counterattack, scoring a goal for himself and creating opportunities for teammates. Brice Samba, the goalkeeper, was also a key figure. He made several crucial saves in the second half, including one on Pablo Sarabia that prevented PSG from drawing even and set up a tense final 10 minutes.

For PSG, the midfield was overrun for the first 60 minutes, and as they attempted to mount a comeback, the physicality of Lens discouraged them. Seko Fofana managed Lens’s midfield, and Openda handled the remaining tasks in the last third.
