Barcelona 2022-23 season preview
Three economic levers were pulled, future financial income was sold off and over €150m has been spent with five new players joining.
Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessié look like astute arrivals on free transfers, while Jules Koundé’s presence should shore up a problem area in the squad.
Raphinha will bring samba flair while re-signing Ousmane Dembélé and the return from injury of Ansu Fati add real firepower to an attack already containing Lewandowski and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.
Frenkie de Jong’s future and the looming spectre of the financial issues are dark clouds that will need to be cleared one way or the other.
But Xavi has been backed ahead of his first full season, and expectations will naturally ramp up.
Barcelona Starting XI 2022-23
(4-3-3) — Ter Stegen; Araújo, Christensen, Koundé, Alba; Kessié, Gavi, Pedri; Raphinha, Dembélé, Lewandowski.
