Kyrgios vs Khachanov LIVE – US Open quarterfinals –  Karen Khachanov beat Nick Kyrgios: The batttle between Nick Kyrgios vs Karen Khachanov went down to the wire on Wednesday. Eventually, Khachanov emerged victorious in a thrilling five set affair with the score reading 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 6-7, 6-4. The match lasted for an amazing three hours and 39 minutes. There was an air of confidence when it came to the Australian Kyrgios in the quarterfinals, and rightly so. He came into the match after toppling top seed and defending champion Daniil Medvedev. But it was not to be as the Russian halted him.

The match started off on a positive note for both the players as they were effective in their service games and did not let any slip. Both the players tried hard to break one another but couldn’t do so as the score read 5-5. Khachanov then won his sixth service game and the first set appeared to move into the tie-breaker. But Khachanov finally managed to get the crucial break over the Australian as he took 1-0 lead in the set.

Meanwhile, there was an injury concern for Kyrgios as he looked in discomfort with a niggle on his left leg and received treatment soon after the first set was over as well.

The Australian was aware of the need to get his A game going in the second set. He did play some good tennis in the second set to trouble his opponent. He got the much needed win in the second set to make it 1-1. At that point, it was understood that the match would prove to be a hundinger.

Throughout the match, both the players gave it their best, which led to an entertaining contest between the two players. There were no signs of taking things lightly.

It was the third set, where Kyrgios looked good. He was making some good points, but his opponent was equally good. The scores read 5-5 in the third set, and it came down to the nerves of both the players. Kyrgios, who had looked good untill then, made some unforced errors in the 12th game, and the Australian lost the set.

WIth Khachanov in 2-1 lead, he was looking to kill the match in the fourth set. But when it comes to Kyrgios, he never gives up. The Australian pulled off a brilliant win in the tie-break after the scores reached 6-6. He won it 6-2 into the tie-break and give himself a chance to seal the semifinals spot.

However, the final set went to Khachanov, who won it 6-4 to break the hearts of the Kyrgios and the player himself. The player was consistent to secure his last four berth in the US Open.
