Korea Open 2023: Schedule, Top Seeds, Draws, Check All You need to Know

After the North American tour, the BWF Tour is set to resume at Asia. The Korea Open is all set to begin on Tuesday, 18th July 2023. It is the fifth Super 500 tournament in the BWF Tour this year.

Korea Open 2023: After the North American tour, the BWF Tour is set to resume at Asia. The Korea Open is all set to begin on Tuesday, 18th July 2023. It is the fifth Super 500 tournament in the BWF Tour this year. Japan’s Kodai Naraoka and Akane Yamaguchi are the top seeds in the Men’s and Women’s Singles. Indians HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu, Men will be in action in the tournament. The tournament will get underway from 11th July 2023, Tuesday. The final is scheduled on 16th July, Sunday.

Men’s Singles

HS Prannoy is the fifth seed and he finds himself in the first quarter of the draws. He will return to action after the Chinese Taipei Open. Prannoy will face fellow compatriot Sameer Verma in the first round. Sameer Verma last played at the Thailand Open in May.

Priyanshu Rajawat is also present in the same quarter. The World No.31 Indian will face a qualifier in the first round. Top seed Kodai Naraoka headlines the draw. Rajawat is likely to face the Japanese in the second round.

Mithun Manjunath is in the second quarter of the draw. The unseeded Indian is set to take on Ng Tze Yong in the opening round. If Manjunath sails past the Malaysian, he is likely to face another Malaysian in eighth seed Lee Zii Jia in the second round.

Kiran George and Kidambi Srikanth are in the third quarter. World No.20 Kidambi Srikanth will face former World No.1 Kenta Momoto in the opening round. World No.57 Kiran George meanwhile will face unseeded Taiwanese Wang Tzu-wei in the first round.

Lakshya Sen enters the tournament with a rejuvenated energy after winning the Canda Open recently. He last played at the US Open where he made it to the semifinal. Lakshya is unseeded in the tournament and he faces Anders Antonsen in the first round.

Women’s Singles

PV Sindhu is the top-ranked Indian in Women’s Singles. The World No.12 will begin her Korea Open campaign against Chinese Taipei’s Pai Yu Po. Sindhu is unseeded in the tournament and will have a challenge. Third seed Chen Yufei and eighth seed Wang Zhi Yi are present in the same quarter.

Malvika Bansod and Aakarshi Kashyap are in the first quarter. Malvika Bansod faces fourth seed Tai Tzu Ying in the first round. Aakarshi Kashyap meanwhile will go up against Zhang Yiman in the first round.

Men’s Doubles

Third seed satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will return to the tour after their Indonesia Open victory last month. The third seeded pair are in the third quarter. They will be facing Thailand’s unseeded Supak Jomkoh and Kittinupong Kedren in the first round.

Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala are also in the same quarter. The unseeded Indians will take on fifth seeds Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi in their first round.

India will also have a third pair in MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila. They are unseeded in the tournament and will face eighth seed Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi in the first round.

India’s top ranked Women’s Doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will begin their campaign against Hungary’s Stoeva Sisters in the first round. If they manage to win the first round, second seeded South Korean duo Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee awaits them in the second round.

Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa are the other pair in the tournament. They are scheduled to take on seventh seeded Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota in the first round. Rutuparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda are also in the draw. They will face Catherine Choi and Josephine Wu in the opening round.
