Kohli vs Ganguly: RCB vs CSK – Virat Kohli vs Sourav Ganguly animosity refuses to die down anytime sooner. Kohli vs Ganguly: What exactly transpired between the duo

It all started before the T20 World Cup 2021 when Kohli announced that he wants to relinquish his T20 captaincy and wants to continue as captain in ODI and Test. At that time, then BCCI President Ganguly and members asked him to reconsider his decision, but Kohli had already made up his mind. Later, before the ODI series against South Africa in 2021-22, Kohli was sacked as ODI captain. The right-hand batter assumed it was Ganguly behind the decision.

Before leaving for South Africa, Kohli created a storm at a press conference by saying, nobody informed him to reconsider his decision as captain in the T20 format, and that he was informed only 90 minutes before that he would no longer remain the ODI captain. After completing the Test series in South Africa, Kohli also relinquished captain in the longer format of the game, indicating that it was Ganguly who did not want him as captain in any of the formats of the game.

“There was no prior communication with me at all since I announced the T20 captaincy decision until the 8th of December. I was told that the selectors had decided that I won’t be ODI captain to which I replied, ‘Okay, fine’. There was no prior communication. That is what happened.”
