NED vs SL, World Cup 2023: Sybrand Engelbrecht and Logan van Beek have broken MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja’s record of the highest 7th wicket partnership in the ODI World Cup. The record (116-run partnership) was created in Dhoni’s final match in international cricket and is remembered for India’s heartbreaking 18-run loss to New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup semifinal.
Engelbrecht and van Beek started to stitch their record-breaking partnership as the Netherlands was reduced to just 91-6 in 21.2 overs. From then on, they not only smashed the ODI World Cup record but also created the seventh-highest 7th wicket partnership in 50-over cricket.
The duo broke MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja’s record by a comfortable distance of 19 runs, as the Men in Orange reached 262 runs due to Engelbrecht and van Beek’s valiant effort.
