KL Rahul: Rahul targets Asia Cup and World Cup, eyes successful training
Rahul’s return to NCA is a massive boost for Team India. Although the right-hand batter has fallen off the radar in the T20Is and Tests, he is a vital member in the 50-over scheme of things. Playing in the middle order, Rahul has an average of over 45 in ODIs. Not only as a batter, but the former India captain is also the designated wicketkeeper batter in the ODI team. With a dual role, the right-hand batter allows India to play either an extra batter or a bowler in the team.
India are due to play West Indies next for three ODIs, Two Test matches, and five T20Is. After that series, India are due to play three T20Is against Ireland and then Asia Cup. Before the World Cup, India will also play three ODIs against Australia. If Rahul’s rehabilitation goes well, he is likely to feature in Asia Cup and three ODIs against Australia.
