KL Rahul Injury – IND vs ENG LIVE: The vice-captain of Team India KL Rahul has reached Germany to undergo extensive treatment for his groin injury. Rahul was ruled out of the South Africa series and England tour with a persistent groin injury. With multiple injuries, the focus will now be on his complete recovery before the West Indies tour in July. Follow India Tour of England Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Rahul is expected to spend close to a month in Germany for his treatment before returning home. He will then join the Indian team for West Indies tour.

“He needs a complete and controlled rehab to recover from the groin injury. It has been hurting him a lot for the last few months. He felt pain during IPL 2022 as well but it wasn’t that serious. Hopefully, he will recover in time for the West Indies tour,” a source close to KL Rahul told InsideSport.IN.

Why KL Rahul is important to India’s plans?

  • KL Rahul is the vice-captain of the Indian team and has done very well as an opener.
  • In England, he partnered with Rohit Sharma to make a great opening pair.
  • However, it’s in the white-ball formats, where his absence will be felt.
  • Rahul has been in great form in T20s and with India beginning preparations for the T20 World Cup, his availability in the England series was crucial.
  • Now that he has missed England tour, the West Indies tour and the Asia Cup will the two last opportunities for Rahul Dravid to get the combination rights.
  • There is still a question mark on where should Rahul bat in T20s.
  • Although he has done well as an opener, there is still debate on whether he should bat at No 4 and let Virat Kohli open with Rohit Sharma.

However, with KL Rahul missing his seventh series in last seven months, it is time that he recovers completely before jumping into pool of more matches to come.
