Meanwhile, KKR’s new mystery spinner Suyash Sharma wreaked havoc over RCB batters as he scalped three crucial wickets in his four-over spell. To note, Suyash was not named in the KKR Playing XI but was a part of the substitutes and was named as the impact player in the 2nd innings of the game. Sharma came to bowl when RCB were already in a big trouble but the youngster ensured that he keeps the pressure as he kept bowling tight line and lengths. The leg-spinner finished his spell after taking three wickets and spending 30 runs. To note, he was bagged by the team for his base price of Rs 20 Lakh at the IPL 2023 auction.
Sharma hails from Delhi and didn’t play any List A, FC, or T20 games before this. It is his first match of competitive cricket. He plays for the Under-25 team of Delhi.
“Have to congratulate Shardul Thakur and Rinku Singh for the way they batted. Varun bowled extremely well, even Sunny. And the newcomer provided support. We saw him in trial matches and were extremely happy with the way he bowled. He’s quick through the air, difficult to pick. He’s inexperienced but shows a very good attitude,” KKR head coach Chandrakant Pandit hailed Sharma.
