KKR vs CSK IPL 2021 match highlights: Du Plessis, Chahar help CSK beat KKR by 18 runs and move to top of points table: In a match that went down to the wire despite Kolkata Knight Riders losing five wickets inside the powerplay, Chennai Super Kings beat Eoin Morgan’s KKR by 18 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. Faf du Plessis’ 95 and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 64 helped CSK set the stage to set a 221-run target for KKR. Kolkata were off to a terrible start, losing five wickets inside the powerplay with Deepak Chahar bagging four wickets. While Andre Russell’s 24-ball 54 and Pat Cummins’ 34-ball 64 kept KKR in the game but in the CSK won the game by 18 runs.

Earlier, Eoin Morgan won the toss and opted to bowl first. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis gave Chennai Super Kings a flying start. The duo after successive failures as opening partners brought up a 115-run stand to set the stage for CSK. Gaikwad slammed a 42-ball 64 while du Plessis scored 60-ball 95 to help CSK post 220/3 in 20 overs.

KKR vs CSK IPL 2021 match highlights: After Gaikwad departed following his half-century, Moeen Ali and du Plessis continued to take on KKR pacers. While Moeen departed shortly after a quickfire 12-ball 25, MS Dhoni joined in with an 8-ball 17 before a fine catch from Eoin Morgan cut short his innings. But du Plessis continued to hammer on Praisdh Krishna and Andre Russell, scoring 60-ball 95 to help CSK post 220/3 in 20 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a poor start with Shubman Gill departing in the first over of Deepak Chahar. But the Chennai Super Kings bowler dealt three more blows in his four overs, leaving KKR rattling at 31/5 inside the powerplay.

KKR vs CSK IPL 2021 match highlights: While Andre Russell kept KKR in the game with a brilliant 22-ball 54, Sam Curran sent him back to rattle KKR further. However, Pat Cummins with a fantastic quickfire knock besides Dinesh Karthik’s 24-ball 40 kept KKR in the game. But in the end, KKR were bowled out for 202 and CSK won their third game on the trot to move to the top of the table with six points from 4 games.
