Karnataka Premier League: The Karnataka State Cricket Association has outlined a domestic T20 competition from August 15 to 31. The KSCA has called it as domestic KSCA T20 cricket tournament, as of now. A key KSCA official stated that the tournament is going to be a replacement for the Karnataka Premier League (KPL).
“This is going to be replace the Karnataka Premier League. All Karnataka players are going to feature in the competition,” said a top KSCA official. However, he did state that the competition is not a franchise-based league like the KPL. “It is not franchise based, but team sponsorship based.”

The KSCA officially issued a notification for expression of interest for the team sponsorship and the naming rights on Monday. Interested corporates can collect the EOI documents on payment of 11,800.
As it seems, KPL’s journey has come to an end.As per the notification, teams will be from Bangalore city, Mysore, Shimoga, Hubli/Dharwad, Raichur and Mangalore, making it six in number.
However there is lack of clarity on the entire competition. Around the second week of July, KSCA is set to make further communication on the competition and other details via a press conference.

It is interesting to note that the Karnataka Premier League has not taken shape since the last three editions. The competition witnessed several players and coaches being involved in spot-fixing scandal, which seems to have led to KPL’s death.
