Speaking in the pre-match conference, Manager Carlo Ancelotti expects his star skipper Benzema to return for the weekend clash, stating, ‘If he recovers from the blow, he will play against Almeria. He’s too important for us. In the last games he has shown a very good level and that is maintained by playing and not saving it. If he’s okay, he wants to play and so do we.’

Karim Benzema has had a rough season while still scoring 26 goals in all competition. The Frenchman has struggled with numerous injuries, which have caused him to miss some of Real Madrid’s season. His ability to perform at the level he did the season before when he won the Ballon d’Or, has been hampered by the problems this campaign.
According to reports from Spain, Benzema missed Monday’s training with the Madrid squad, with discomfort in his left calf, resulting in his staying out of footballing action on Tuesday.
Alongside Benzema, Eduardo Camavinga and Rodygo too missed Monday’s training session and are doubtful for the Girona tie. The three forwards add to the injury list having already long-term casualties David Alaba and Ferland Mendy.

Moreover, Ceballos will also be out from the game after receiving a fifth yellow card against Celta Vigo on Saturday. Therefore Kroos and Modric could well return to the starting eleven to partner in the midfield, having missed out on the last weekend’s game.
Head coach Ancelotti needs to keep his squad fit and healthy, given the club is in the crucial stage of the season. The Los Blancos side seems to have been out of the race for the league title but faces mammoth challenges to face Man City in the Champions League semi-final and Copa del Rey final to play for.
Before the Spanish giants face Guardiola’s side on May 9, Real Madrid faces Almeria after Tuesday’s clash with Girona and then takes on Osasuna in the Copa del Rey final on May 6.
