Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba suspended following charges of anti-doping offence

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, was charged with anti-doping violations following a Serie A victory.

According to Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal, Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended for an anti-doping infringement. The test, which was conducted following Juve’s victory against Udinese on August 20, revealed increased levels of testosterone in him. The hormone that boosts endurance in athletics.

Pogba, who won the World Cup with France in 2018, sat on the bench for the whole game. He did, however, emerge as a substitute in subsequent games against Bologna and Empoli. The anti-doping body Nado Italia said that Pogba has been suspended indefinitely. He faces a four-year suspension pending the trial and testing of a backup “B” sample.

Before Paul Pogba can be deemed to have failed the drug test, a second test sample will be examined. If that sample is clear, the complete test is deemed negative. The maximum penalty for a failed test is four years in prison if doping was proved to be purposeful.

His suspension has been labelled as ‘precautionary’ by his club Juventus. “Juventus Football Club announces that today, September 11, 2023, the footballer Paul Labile Pogba received a precautionary suspension order from the National Anti-Doping Tribunal following the results of tests carried out on August 20, 2023,” read a statement from the Serie A club.
