Real Madrid recognized Bellingham as their top priority transfer for this transfer window. Reportedly, they were ready to do anything to bring the youngster to Spain. They were ready to spend however much was needed to make that transfer happen. However, it was thought that his transfer fee could reach up to £130 million. On top of that, their main opponent in the race was Man City and Man United.

Real Madrid knew very well that if the transfer fee went sky-high, they would not be able to compete with Manchester City. Even Manchester United were waiting for the Glazers to sell to be able to bring over the player. Liverpool were also in the race to sign Bellingham. However, they opted out last month. Liverpool backed away when they figured out that Bellingham’s wage and the fee could reach £400,000 per week.

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp is trying to rebuild and overhaul the current squad. That’s why that cost could have been too much for them and they decided to drop out of the race. Even though Manchester United and Manchester City were still trying, Real Madrid tried everything in their power. They were also hoping that the highest wage would not be the only factor for Bellingham when he was choosing his future.

Real Madrid even held talks with Bellingham’s father who recently passed the FIFA agents exam. Bellingham expressed once that one of his idols growing up was Zinedine Zidane. During the last Champions League final, Zidane invited him and his family to watch the match in the box as a way to convince the player. However, reportedly, Real Madrid’s chief scout Juni Calafat was crucial to make the deal happen.

As per reports, a meeting between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund has already been scheduled for the final agreement on the transfer deal for Jude Bellingham. If Bellingham arrives at Real Madrid, he will be the first English player to arrive at the club after David Beckham in 2007. His arrival and inclusion in the team will also complete Real Madrid’s vision of making up one of the strongest midfield with young players. Both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are aging and Bellingham will be their perfect successor.
