The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Stadium in Ranchi has a pavilion named after Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The stadium where Mahendra Singh Dhoni first took baby steps as a promising cricketer, will now have a block dedicated to one of the most successful cricketer the sport has ever seen.

The city icon who first put Ranchi on the world cricket map for his heroics in front of and behind the stumps has been much more than a sporting ambassador of the Jharkhand and its Capital.

The Jharkhand State Cricket Association, in recognition of Dhoni’s meritorious services to the sports, has decided to name the South Pavilion as the MS Dhoni Pavillion. The block in the stadium is painted in blue with MS Dhoni Pavillion written in bold letters. A placard – MS Dhoni Pavillion – has reportedly been also installed inside the pavilion as well.

The man to win all the major ICC titles – the ICC World T20 in 2007, the ICC World Cup in 2011 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 – has already been honoured with the State’s highest civilian order Jharkhand Ratna.

His closet is decked with the global and national honours along with the numerous trophies and shields. His roll of honours includes Padma Bhushan (2018), Padma Shri (2009), Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna (2007), ICC ODI Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009, a Member of the ICC Team of The Year in for seven successive years between 2008 and 2014, MTV Youth Icon of the Year, CNN-IBN Indian of the Year, ICC Award of Spirit of Cricket, ICC Award  of Spirit of Cricket.

The State cricket association has named the Northern Pavillion after seasoned cricket administrator and the Board of Control for Cricket in India officiating secretary Amitabh Choudhary.

Ranchi is the home State of Dhoni.

It has been a brilliant career for Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Ever since his inclusion in the side, MS Dhoni delivered the goods in various ways for the country. For all his incredible achievements in the game of cricket, as a gesture for his greatness, the south pavilion in the JSCA Stadium is to be called as MS Dhoni Pavilion.

The Ranchi lad started his career as the wicketkeeper for the team. Within no time, he went on to become the go-to batsman for the skipper Sourav Ganguly. Later, he saw people pelting stones at his house for the poor show in ICC World Cup 2007.

MS Dhoni led India in a successful way:

However, he stood like a warrior from then on. He took the captaincy when none of the players is willing to do the job. And then, as they say, rest is history. After taking the role, he guided India to lift the trophy in ICC T20I World Cup 2007 to get back the trust of the Indian fans.

It was indeed a sweet victory, as it came against the arch-rivals Pakistan. Then he led India to success in overseas ODI series. And then, in Asia Cup and also helped India to take the Test Mace under his captaincy. After that, India lifted the ICC World Cup in 50 overs after a 28-year wait.

All his services are written in a golden word in the books of Indian cricket. Later, he collected the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 to become the only captain in the world to win all the major ICC titles for his country.

Coming to the topic again, the latest gesture by the Jharkhand board is a pleasing sight for the fans of MS Dhoni. Jharkhand States Cricket Association International Cricket Stadium, also known as JSCA International Stadium Complex, is situated in Ranchi, which is the home place of the former Indian skipper.

Recently, they have installed the board of MS Dhoni inside the pavilion as well. Meanwhile, they named North Pavilion after Amitabh Choudary.
