Jos Buttler Press Conference Highlights: IND vs ENG LIVE

  • Obviously we are really excited about the match against a great Indian. We like to be in a situation.
  • Both Malan and Wood are doubtful. But we would see how they are on match day. We trust our medical team. We need guys to be fit.
  • Going back to Pakistan tour we gave chance to a lot of youngsters and they did well.
  • We are excited for playing in semi-final. We know that the way we play we have a chance of winning. We would like to stick to our plan.
  • He (Bhuvneshwar) is a good bowler but I certainly don’t fear him.
  • The wicket looks consistent for 40 overs throughout.
  • Full faith in every member of our squad. I have full confidence in the squad.
  • Phil Salt has a fantastic mindset especially for T20s. He is someone who looks to perform.
  • India is a very strong team. There are some fantastic players in the squad.
  • I think spinners play a huge role in T20 cricket by taking wickets in middle overs. Taking wickets stem the Flow of runs.
  • Yuzi is a great bowler. He is a wicket-taking bowler.
  • In all cricket we all have to adjust to the conditions.
  • I speak to Eoin quite a lot. He is a great player but I lead the team in my way. But he is a great mate.
  • He (Suryakumar) has been great to watch. He is a batter who has a lot of shots. But you need one ball to dismiss the batter and we would be desperate to do that.
  • We certainly don’t want to see an India versus Pakistan final and we will try to spoil their party.
  • They are a good team.
  • A little bit may be. We have got to the point where we wanted to be. Everyone is excited at playing the semifinal.
  • Well, we will wait and see. Historically 165 is s par score but we would not like to have a par score. We would like to have a winning total.

The prospect of a mouth-watering final between India and Pakistan at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has everyone excited.

India and Pakistan successfully navigated different paths to the final four on a highly-fluctuating final day of Super 12 action on Sunday and now could be on track to meet in the T20 World Cup final if they each win their difficult semi-final match-ups.

Rohit Sharma’s side takes on England in Adelaide on Thursday in a battle between the top two teams on the T20I Team Rankings, while Pakistan will have to conquer in-form New Zealand at the SCG on Wednesday if they are to reach the title decider.

Pakistan’s chances of even reaching the semi-finals looked forlorn at the start of the day on Sunday, but the Netherlands’ upset victory over South Africa provided Babar Azam’s side the opportunity to clinch an unlikely semi-final berth.

Mark Wood has been a top performer for England in T20 World Cup: If Mark Wood does not feature in the second semifinal against India on Thursday, it will be a huge blow to England. The bowler has consistently topped 90 kmph since his return from elbow injury, which kept him inactive for most of the summer.  In the ongoing T20 World Cup, the bowler has performed brilliantly for his side. In four matches, the bowler has bagged nine wickets at an average of 12.00 and an economy rate of 7.71. His best bowling figures in the tournament so far are 3/26.

Philip Salt for Dawid Malan?

  • Dawid Malan has been performing decently for England in the ongoing contest
  • The former world No 1 T20I batter picked up a groin injury during England’s final Super-12 match against Sri Lanka on Saturday
  •  He limped off the pitch in the first innings and was not required to bat as England won by four wickets.
  • Meanwhile, Philip Salt is expected to be an ideal replacement for Malan.
  • Salt has played 11 T20I games and has stroked 235 runs at a staggering strike rate of 164.34.
  • He can be an ideal player for the number 3 spot for England.
