Jon Jones Out Of UFC 295 Due To Torn Pectoral While Training

This is the second bout that Jones has had to withdraw due to injury, and it is the eighth cancellation in his career.

Jon Jones will not be able to defend his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 on November 11 because “Bones” tore his pectoral muscle while training.

Sergei Pavlovich vs. Tom Aspinall has been added as the co-main event for the interim heavyweight title, while Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka has been moved to a five-round main event. Jones is anticipated to be out for at least eight months following Miocic’s complete removal, and the UFC hopes to reschedule the bout for a major pay-per-view event in 2024.

On October 25, UFC CEO Dana White revealed the information:

“Jon Jones was training last night, got injured,” White shouted. “You know he was wrestling, and he tore the tendon that connects your pec to the bone — off the bone. Eight months, gonna need surgery, he’s out [of UFC 295]

“So, the main event is Prochazka vs.

Pereira, the co-main event now is Pavlovich vs. Aspinall for the interim heavyweight championship.”

This is the second bout that Jones has had to withdraw due to injury, and it is the eighth cancellation in his career. Jones has not yet issued any statements.

The winner of Aspinall vs. Pavlovich for the interim title will likely face the winner of the rescheduled Jones vs. Miocic fight, or if the winner retires, they will be eligible for a vacant belt.
