Joe Rogan claims Islam Makhachev loss at UFC 284

Although Rogan wasn’t in Australia to call the bout, he was there to host a podcast called the Joe Rogan Experience Fight Companion. Volkanovski defeated Makhachev in the last seconds of the fifth round, and Rogan and his companions proclaimed Alexander “The Great” the winner.

Until Buffer revealed the winner, Joe Rogan’s gaze was glued to the screen. Rogan started to look away as soon as Buffer added, “And still…”. He repeatedly murmured nothing but “Oh My God,” with a perplexed look. Like many others, the Joe Rogan Experience presenter was obviously startled by the outcome of this battle.

After his initial amazement subsided, Rogan shared his opinions regarding the winner. He declared, “In my opinion, Volkanovski won 3-2. It’s ridiculous one of those scorecards… Hey, bro, Islam Makhachev lost that battle.” Even Joe Rogan was perplexed by the contentious judgment rendered by the UFC 284 judges.

Two judges for the champion featherweight assessed the third and fifth rounds. The third judge, Derek Cleary, awarded Alexander Volkanovski points in all but one round.

Who won the UFC 284 main event is still a contentious topic in the MMA community. The idea has been floated that the UFC P4P #1 position shouldn’t change hands following this occasion. Despite the controversy surrounding the verdict, Islam Makhachev is still the rightful victor, the new UFC P4P #1, and the undisputed UFC lightweight title.
