Viktoriia Duakova vs Istela Nunes was supposed to be a three-round bout. However, the bout ended up early after Nunes broke her left hand. Immediately, referee Chris Tognon stopped the bout and called out the medical team. Following her injury, Nunes was heard screaming in pain in the octagon as UFC medics examined her.
Meanwhile, the UFC declared a KO finish to Viktoriia Dudakova following the doctor’s stoppage. This is the first win for the Russian fighter, but she won’t be happy to get this way. UFC Vegas 77: Dana White shares X-ray image of Istela Nunes broken hand
Following the tragic incident, the UFC immediately provided medical support to Istela Nunes. She was taken to the emergency ward to start her treatment quickly. UFC president Dana White recently posted the X-ray of Nunes’ broken left arm during UFC Vegas 77. The X-ray shows a broken bone separated from the elbow region. This is one of the worst injuries to happen to a fighter during a fight.
Back in 2021, former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor suffered a similar injury at UFC 264. During his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier, he suffered a broken left leg after he twisted during his defense. Since then, McGregor hasn’t returned to the UFC cage. As per the past examples, these injuries took 8 to 10 months or a year, depending on the severity of the injury.
