Barca president has claimed that the club will do everything to get their superstar back at Camp Nou ahead of season 2023/24. Messi’s contract will expire in the summer and it’s confirmed that he will leave the club after this season.
Messi will be a free agent this summer because PSG is not willing to give him an extension to his contract. The World Cup winner is keen to find a new home for the upcoming season.

While talking to Jijantes FC (via Daily Mail), Laporta gives a big update about Messi’s return to Barcelona. He admitted that the club is on the progress to bring him back. He said, “We will do everything we can to bring Leo Messi back to Barcelona. We are already working on next year’s team. We hope to be able to reinforce the team. We are in an austerity plan at the club to be able to have enough fair-play to allow us to improve the team. We are doing our homework to be able to have an even more competitive team next season.”
The Catalan giants still need to get their wage bill down. La Liga claims that Barca are currently above next season’s limits. Joan Laporta is aware of the club’s financial plans and he is working hard to get the signature of Messi at Camp Nou.
Italian journalist gave a nod with the statement of Laporta where the Barca president said, “We want Leo — we will not offer crazy figures for that or any other deal. We’ll try to make things work with viability plan, waiting for the approval”.
He also added, “Where would Leo play? Up to Xavi, it’s never an issue with the best player in the world”.
Barcelona recently won the La Liga title for the first time since Messi’s departure. They beat Espanyol in Barcelona derby to assure the title. It was also the first La Liga trophy under Xavi.
Lionel Messi is also getting offers from Al Hilal and Inter Miami this summer. The former Barcelona legend would look to stay in Europe despite the transfer rumours. Barcelona are still the front-runner to sign him.
