Jasprit Bumrah Injury Update: BCCI are concerned with Jasprit Bumrah situation. The pace spearhead is already out for 7 months and is all set to miss IPL 2023 and the WTC Final 2023. With things not improving BCCI has asked Bumrah to take doctors’ advice and undergo surgery to fix his bagging back problem. The BCCI medical team with the consultation with Bumrah’s doctors have suggested surgery as an option. Bumrah has been delaying it for the IPL and WTC Final. But now that he is all set to miss both, BCCI wants him to take the advice so that he can be at least fit for World Cup 2023. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

“His situation is not good and not improving. There are suggestions of surgery for the back stress fracture. But as it will take nearly 4-5 months to recover, he has been ignoring it. But since he is not improving, the medical team has advised him to take the surgery route. That way, there will be a chance that he could be fit for the World Cup,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

As Bumrah still feels he could be fit for at least WTC Final, he still doesn’t want to take the surgery route. However, BCCI will take a final call on the matter in consultation with the NCA and the medical team by next week. It is possible that Bumrah will fly to London for the surgery. But there is an option in Mumbai as well.

“Bumrah is a great player but like all great players, he is stubborn too. He doesn’t want to have a surgery as it could put him a lengthier path to recovery. But as the condition has been worsening instead of improving, it is important that the NCA steps in. We will take a call soon,” the official said.

Jasprit Bumrah returned after two months on the sidelines ahead of T20 World Cup. However, his rushed return proved catastrophic. He could only bowl 6 overs before being ruled out of the T20 WC, NewZealand tour. The expectation was that he would be fit for the Bangladesh tour. But it did not happen. He was named in the squad for Sri Lanka ODI series after he resumed bowling at the NCA.

However, Bumrah complained of back pain again and was pulled out of the squad. Further scans showed that the stress fracture did not heal. He missed the NZ series at home as well as the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Now, he is set to miss the IPL 2023 and World Test Championship Final. India are just a win away from sealing WTC final berth.
