IPL 2023: After missing out on the Australia series, it is all but confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will mark his return to cricket in IPL for Mumbai Indians. Whether he is playing for the national side or not, Bumrah is still the topic of conversation in Indian cricket. The most recent discussion centers on how to manage his workload in the Indian Premier League 2023. This is because the World Test Championship (WTC) is immediately following the cash-rich league and the World Cup is scheduled for later in the year. It has to be seen whether a big franchise like Mumbai Indians, for which the India spearhead competes in the IPL for a fee of INR 12 crore every season, will accept any stipulations.
IPL 2023: Jasprit Bumrah to play directly for Mumbai Indians in IPL as premium pacer yet to get NCA clearance, BCCI to monitor workload in T20 league
The national selectors did not include Bumrah in either of the Indian teams for the upcoming matches against Australia. He was not selected for any of the final two Test matches against Australia or the ensuing three One-Day Internationals.
According to Cricbuzz, the National Cricket Academy has not given Bumrah permission to participate despite him being out of international competition for nearly five months.
Bumrah is rumoured to have participated in a few practise matches at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) facilities in Bengaluru during the past ten days. But the NCA managers reportedly have not given their approval for him to be considered for the national call-up.

Bumrah Workload Management
Now that it is certain that Bumrah will compete in the intense IPL, the Indian squad does not regard this as a barrier to his progrees.
The team administration will probably keep an eye on his IPL workload. The strategy is still being worked out, but the BCCI will attempt to monitor his development, if not exactly remotely direct his work.
There have been instances in the IPL where foreign boards have issued conditional NOCs, asking the franchises to refrain from forcing bowlers to bowl more than 24 deliveries in the nets, refrain from forcing them to play a certain number of games straight, and routinely check their players’ fitness levels.
The BCCI may use a similar strategy to all bowlers, if not specifically to Bumrah alone, but he will undoubtedly receive particular attention.
