Casper Ruud leads first quarter

World No.2 Casper Ruud, who is the top seed in this tournament leads the top quarter of the men’s singles draws. He will face Jaume Munar in the first round. Ruud is likely to set up quarterfinal clash with sixth seed Alex de Minaur, who was recently part of the successful Team World team at the Laver Cup. Minaur will face South Korea’s Kwon Soon-woo in the first round of the tournament .

Pedro Martinez and Alexei Popyrin will face each other in the first round, while MacKenzie McDonald and Kaichi Uchida are also part of the quarter and will play against each other in the opening round.

Frances Tiafoe headlines second quarter 

Frances Tiafoe, who reached his maiden grand slam semifinal at the US Open is the fourth seed in the tournament. He takes on wildcard entrant Yasutaka Uchiyama in the first round. Eighth seed Daniel Evans is the only other seeded player in this quarter and the Briton faces Radu Albot in the first round.

Unseeded Miomir Kecmanovic will face Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round, while Spaniard Zapatta Miralles will face Taro Daniel in the opening round.

Taylor Fritz leads third quarter

Third seed Taylor Fritz enters the tournament as one of the favourites. He is the third seed in the tournament and faces Australia’s James Duckworth in the opening round. In the second round, Fritz will face the winner between Japan’s luck loser Hiroki Moriya or Yuta Shimzu.

Fritz will face his biggest challenge in the quarterfinal as he has the possibility of meeting Nick Kyrgios in the last-eight. Kyrgios enters the tournament as the fifth seed and will begin his campaign against Chinese Taipei’s Tseng Chun-hsin. Polish’s Kamil Majchrzak and Japan’s Sho Shimabukuro are also part of this quarter and they will be facing each other in the first round.

Denis Shapovalov and Borna Coric lead final quarter

Second seed seed Cameron Norrie withdrew from the tournament after contracting Covid-19 and in his absence, seventh seed Denis Shapovalov and ninth seed Borna Coric are the top two seeds in the quarter. Shapovalov will be up against USA’s Steve Johnson in the first round. Meanwhile, Thanasi Kokkinakis will begin his campaign by facing Coric in the opening round.

This quarter also has India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan, who has qualified to the main draw after playing the qualifiers. Ramanathan faces fellow qualifier Rio Noguchi of Japan in the first round. Meanwhile USA’s Brandon Nakashima will be facing wildcard entrant Shintaro Mochizuki in the opening contest.
