Japan Open Badminton LIVE: Kidambi Srikanth knocked out after loss…
With this, India’s campaign in Japan Open has also come to an end. The likes of Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen had already exited from the tournament in initial rounds. There were nothing much to write home about in the women’s singles and the other doubles competition as well.
As the last Indian remaining, Prannoy was desperate to go all the way, but Chen ensured it did not happen. The two shuttlers were involved some incredible action. They did not give one another any inch as well.
Prannoy and Chen were involved in some quality rallies throughout the match. It started from the first game itself, which was a tight one. With both the players having played one another in the past, they are aware of one another’s weakness and strengths, which made it even more fascinating.
At the end of the first game, it was Chen, who emerged victorious. The Indian was aware of the need to up his game if he was to stay alive in the competition. Prannoy managed to do it despite some tough points against Chen in the second game.
End of the Japan Open tour for me.
Really proud to be playing at this level and to have 2 strong back to back tournaments yet again with Quarterfinal finishes.

However, the real action was reserved for the final and the deciding game. Both the players knew it was now or never for them to reach the semifinals of the competition.
Things did not start well for Prannoy, who made some errors early on to go down 1-4. In fact, the final set witnessed Prannoy making quite some errors. Despite all of these, he came back to one point of his opponent at 12-13. One thought he would go on and take the all-important lead. It did not happen as Chen kept on pressing.
Despite his valiant effort, it was Prannoy, who has to exit the Japan Open in the quarterfinals as he lost the contest in a tight manner in the final game. He lost 20-22.
