Jadeja Bumrah Injury Update: India have received two huge injury boosts. Premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah is close to being 100%. He has resumed bowling at the NCA and is set to be back for NewZealand series at home. The physios are optimistic that Bumrah can even feature in the IND vs SL series in early January. The other injured star close to recovery is Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder is recovering from knee surgery. A call on him will be taken after injury assessment. But he is likely to return for the SriLanka series. Follow IND vs SL & IND vs NZ LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

“Jasprit is doing well. He has resumed training. He will be a match-fit soon. Whether he will be picked for SriLanka series is a question for selectors. But as things stand, he can return for Lanka series. But if the selectors want to delay, then he is a sure-shot for the NZ series,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Bumrah Injury: Bumrah briefly returned to action in the Australia series at home before T20 World Cup. But he aggravated the lower-back injury that he suffered on England tour in July. He has missed the Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022.

After the lengthy lay-off, he is now close to full recovery. Jasprit Bumrah is bowling full tilt as he continues to return to full fitness. His troublesome back also cost India big time. India struggled in his absence and were knocked out in the T20 WC semifinals by England.

Rushing himself before the world Cup cost him more time on the sidelines and Bumrah has ensured he takes a cautious approach with his recovery. After weeks of just mild training, the Mumbai Indians star hit the nets with ball in hand.

Ravindra Jadeja Injury: The other Team India star is also out of action since Asia Cup. Jadeja returned from Asia Cup after the first two games following a freak injury in off-day training exercise. He underwent knee surgery in Mumbai. While the selectors named him in the Bangladesh Tour, he could not recover in time.

“Jaddu will report back to the NCA in next couple of weeks. He wasn’t fully fit for Bangladesh series. Once he resumes full training, we will know where he stands. The physios will assess his injury and take a call on his return. At the moment, it is difficult to say whether he will be able to return for SriLanka or NewZealand series. But we are certain, he will be available for the Australia series,” the BCCI official said.

Bumrah Jadeja to play Ranji? – While the BCCI President encouraged the old norm of playing domestic cricket to regain full fitness, both Jadeja and Bumrah are unlikely to feature in Ranji Trophy. With the all-important Australia series coming up in February, the BCCI doesn’t want them to risk the load of four-day games straight away. Instead, both superstars will return to Team India directly for shorter formats first.

“It’s not ideal for them to go back and play Ranji at the moment. If it was 20 or 50-over cricket, it would have been fine. But it is not fair on them to jump into four-day game straightaway. Instead, they have to take it slow and return to action gradually,” the official said.

However, it is unlikely that Bumrah will feature in the T20 series against SriLanka. The incoming selection committee will take a call on whether Jadeja can feature in the T20s. But with priority on ODIs, both are expected to play the ODIs. Selectors, instead will try domestic sars out in the T20s as India T20 Reboot comes into full effect next month.
