Italian Open 2021 Final: ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal defeats Novak Djokovic to win record 10th title- Rafael Nadal has defeated the World No.1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic as he continued his dominance on clay court. He defeated the Serbian 7-5, 1-6 and 6-3 after losing the second set.
In the second set, Djokovic was in no mood to give up against the Spanish giant on the clay court. He fought back in style to defeat Rafel Nadal in the second set. Earlier, Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic in the opening set. The duo began on an equal note as they were not giving up against each other in the first set in the Rome finals.
“It’s amazing I have this trophy in my hand for a 10th time, it’s something impossible to imagine but it happened so I’m super happy and can’t thank my team enough.”,” said Nadal who also equalled Djokovic’s record of 36 ATP Masters 1000 titles in his 12th Rome final.

The two best players of Tennis locked horns against each other for the sixth time in the Italian Open finals in Rome, Italy.
While Novak Djokovic was coming on the back of a straight-sets win over Reilly Opelka in the semifinals, Djokovic earned hard-fought victories in the quarterfinals against Stefanos Tsitsipas and Lorenzo Sonego in three-set contests in quarterfinal and semifinal respectively.

NOTE: Nadal has won 459 out of 501 matches on the clay court.
Nadal will now target a 14th French Open crown when the claycourt Grand Slam begins on May 30.
