PR Sreejesh is a legend in his own right in Hockey. Indian Hockey’s custodian has been a vital cog in the nation’s success in the sport over the past decade. The modest 35-year old was however elated on meeting another legend in Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin during the India vs Pakistan clash in the Asian Champions Trophy at Chennai on Wednesday, 9th August.

Ashwin, who hails from Chennai was one of the special guests at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Wednesday. Ahead of the clash, Ashwin along with other prominent guests that included Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin walked into the pitch and greeted the players from both the sides before the national anthems.
Following the proceedings before walking into the pavilion, Ashwin and Sreejesh shared a special hug. The former waited for the goal-keeper who came rushing to the spin legend to exchange the pleasantries.
Speaking to Times of India on the moment, Sreejesh said, “It was a great gesture from him. He is a legend, such a senior player. Current International team member and still recognised me.” The modest Sreejesh further added, “He came to say hi. It is something I can cherish for my lifetime because nobody does that seriously.”
Indian Hockey team kept the home crowd happy as they registered a clincal 4-0 victory in the match. With the win, India ended the round-robin stage on top of the points table. The team led by Harmanpreet Singh will next face Japan in the semifinal on Friday.
