With Magomedov, Strickland is facing a battle that “literally nobody wants to fight.” After a string of cancellations, Magomedov made his octagon debut in September of last year. He faced Dustin Stoltzfus and defeated him in the first round with a front kick and punches.

Magomedov is up against an energetic striker in Strickland, whose constant pressure comes off handsomely. To bounce back from a decision loss to former championship candidate Jared Cannonier, Strickland most recently defeated Nassourdine Imavov.

It might come as a surprise to UFC fans to know why such a great fighter like Sean Strickland is fighting against a ranked fighter, to his Strickland has explained in one of his Instagram posts saying, that MMA had offered Strickland two guys with whom he could fight the bout with and both men denied Sean’s proposal.

This left him with another option which is, to fight because if he waits, for a ranked fighter for another 6 months he believed they wouldn’t agree to his proposal either. Sean Strickland said that he fights for money as it is his profession.

He then spoke about the situation of Israel Adesanya, “Dricus picked up all easy fights and will get a title shot after beating old retired Bruson, and I applaud him for it but Izzy is going to make him look like a glorified can, but he played the game well…So what would you guys do in my position wait 6+ months to fight or go fight???”

It looks like Sean Strickland has indirectly revealed the next opponent for Israel Adesanya when he said Dricus Du Plessis chose easy fights to easily get a title fight with the current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. The post that revealed all the information has been taken down by Instagram.

It isn’t yet confirmed but it is not something that is impossible to happen, looking at the top contenders in the middleweight division Dricus Du Plessis is the most eligible contender to take up the fight against Israel Adesanya. Also with both the fighters getting involved in verbal spats as to who is an actual African, we can derive a back story out of it and assume that these two professional fighters will bring us an interesting bout shortly.
