Makhachev vs Volkanovski: UFC 284: Islam Makhachev has flown to the enemy territory for his first UFC lightweight title defense and will put his belt at stake against no.1 P4P fighter Alexander Volkanovski in Perth, Australia. Both men had one loss as professionals, which makes the stake extremely high for the UFC 284 main event. However, Islam Makhachev’s corner wouldn’t be the same as his previous fights.

Two of the biggest celebrities on his side were former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Hasbulla. They wouldn’t be present this time. Khabib Nurmagomedov announced cutting all ties from the sport a few months back and has claimed to spend time with family and close ones. However, Islam has confirmed Khabib’s active initiative in the UFC 284 build-up.

Per Makhachev, Khabib has called him up almost every day and has tracked the champion’s developments getting into the fight. As for Hasbulla, Islam Makhachev jokingly said that the MMA fan is at home during the open media workout.

With two superstar companions missing, Islam Makhachev will still have an A-listed corner team. His friend Muslim Amiraslanov will be present on the cage side, Amiraslanov is currently helping Makhachev in the fight camp.
